Position Overview: As a Float Caregiver, you will play a vital role in our organization. You will be assigned to shifts on an as needed basis every week, based on open client shifts.  You will also cover the start of care visits and introduce caregivers to new cases.  You may be required to assist with administrative tasks in the office, when not scheduled.  You will be paid a minimum of 40 hours per week, but if you work more than 40 hours per week, you will be paid overtime.  You will work closely with the office staff to report on client and caregiver issues/concerns.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide ADL and direct care for clients as needed based on open schedules.
  • Introduce caregivers to clients at the start of care.
  • Provide start of care coverage when caregivers are unavailable.
  • Provide training to caregivers when needed.
  • Assist office staff with administrative tasks/projects.
  • Participate in staff meetings and events.
Requirements:

  • MUST have current HHA or CNA license in the State of Massachusetts.
  • MUST have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
  • Background and driving history checks are required.
  • Must provide professional references.
  • Ability to cover day and night (8am-8pm/8pm-8am) shifts as needed. 
  • Assist office staff with administrative tasks/projects when not scheduled with a client.
  • Willing to drive clients in your vehicle if necessary. You will be paid for travel time between clients and mileage.
  • Must have experience working with machines such as wheelchairs & Hoyer lifts. Other machines are a plus.
  • Must have experience working with people with dementia and/or hospice.
  • Comfortable with working in homes with dogs and/or cats.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to clearly speak, understand and write English.
Qualifications:

  • Current CNA and/or HHA certificate.  
  • Proven experience as a caregiver/lead caregiver, preferably in the healthcare or home care industry.
  • Strong understanding of home care practices/techniques and services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cover daytime, evening and/or weekend shifts as needed.
  • Comfortable with changing priorities, dependent on client needs.
  • Flexibility to re-prioritize in a constantly changing environment.
