Virginia Home Care Services, Inc. is a leading provider of home healthcare services committed to delivering compassionate and personalized care to individuals in the comfort of their own homes. We specialize in offering a comprehensive range of medical and non-medical services to clients across Northern Virginia areas. Our team is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our clients and their families by providing professional and reliable care tailored to their unique needs.

Position Overview:
Home health Speech Therapists, or Speech Language Pathologists, provide one-on-one care to patients in their homes to help them with communication, language difficulties, swallowing problems, and cognitive disorders. You will be working independently, but collaborate with other members of the patient's care team, such as RN, Physical Therapist, and other member of our Skilled team. You will be responsible for creating treatment plans that are specific to a patient’s immediate needs. Your work will focus on helping your patients complete daily tasks like eating, performing basic household tasks that involve communicating with family members, and using the phone. It’s all done with the ultimate goal of helping clients achieve independence.

Duties:
  • Conducting oral, pharyngeal, and motor breathing exercises
  • Helping patients communicate both verbally and nonverbally
  • Educating family members
  • Conducting structured memory and problem-solving tasks
A typical day for a home care speech pathologist may include helping a non-verbal stroke survivor get familiar with text-to-speech technology… assessing a patient’s swallowing by trialing liquids of different consistencies…and teaching a patient’s husband how to puree foods properly so she can safely eat

  • Knowledge: Be knowledgeable of state and federal home health regulations
  • Other skills: Have good clinical judgment and be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers
Additional Benefits:
